At Second Family MCC, our program is designed to engage and stimulate our Members in a secure and fun-filled environment in which love, laughter and joy are constants. We keep our Members active physically, cognitively, and socially. Second Family MCC CARERS are dedicated to joining our Members on their journey for all interactions and activities. Our programming includes both smaller groups, each designed for the specific dementia stages – early, middle, and late – of our Members, as well large group activities aimed at fun and fellowship. We provide a continental breakfast, hot lunch, and nutritious snacks throughout the day.
Within our person-centered approach, we employ dementia staging to assess each member's current reality as early, middle or late stage. This information enables us to foster independence while maintaining safety. Dementia staging further serves to nurture each member with the appropriate level of care, as well as embracing and joining their journey.
Our Second Family MCC activity calendar is designed to provide structure while allowing our Members to live with increased independence and dignity. We use art therapy, music therapy, pet therapy, and reminiscence therapy to stimulate memory as well as enhance cognitive skills and encourage communication. Our activities also boost physical and social interactions as well as decreasing stress and adverse behaviors.
Another unique facet of Second Family MCC is our Night Club program. This unprecedented program serves Members who
struggle with sleep deprivation, wandering, and increased behavior
issues when the sun goes down. The Night Club further provides respite
to Members’ tired and stressed caregivers. This one-of-a-kind program
mirrors our day activity schedule while also providing a peaceful and
comfortable area to facilitate relaxation.
Our Night Club is open Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7 PM to 6 AM
